Transformers 2: Boring, Long, Obnoxious

I saw the second Transformers movie in theaters on Saturday, and if I hadn't seen it in Imax, I would fallen asleep.
Despite mediocre reviews of the first movie, I enjoyed it. I had no expectations for the film and didn't bother seeing it in theaters, but I was pleased overall with the film. The sequel, "Rise of the Fallen" had the same massive special-effects budget as the first film, but lacked a precise plot.
Here is a brief synopsis of the film:
*BOOM*
[Main Characters run from explosion in slow motion]
Shia Labeouf
"--INSERT WITTY LINE HERE--"
*ANOTHER EXPLOSION*
[Main Characters run from explosion in slow motion]
{Close-up of Megan Fox running in slow motion}
*BLAND GIANT ROBOTS FIGHT*
[Main Characters run from bland giant robots]

There were too many robot fights and too little plot points. It reminded me of the new Star Wars trilogy; too much action and little substance.
I'm holding out some faith for the next movie, and hoping that Michael Bay is dropped from the next film. With the success of the film on Wednesday it seems unlikely Paramount would mess with their current formula.
