Taliban militants are close to seizing nuclear weapons

Taliban in Pakistan want nukesIn Pakistan, the Taliban roam the northern Swat Valley in Pakistan freely now thanks to a peace-deal between the militant group and the Pakistani government. They implement extremist laws and patrol the area with their weapons and men.

Now the Taliban are on the move, and are 60 miles outside of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, which is the home to the country's nuclear weapons. If you're not scared right now; you should be.

The Taliban now have a home again in the Swat valley, just as they did in Afghanistan. They are able to build their forces in this area, and then spread their views outward from there. Now, after being given the Swat Valley, the Taliban have begun expanding their reach once again.

This is a prime example of why you do not negotiate with terrorists. You give them a little, and then they want a little more. Now they are on the verge of toppling on the corrupt Paki-government and shooting off nukes throughout Asia and the Middle East.

The nukes which the Pakistani military posses would not be able to reach North America, but would easily be able to hit New Delhi in India, as well as other major cities. The weapons could also reach China, various parts of Afghanistan, and areas of Iran, but it is unlikely they could reach Tehran, the capital.

So those in North America do not need to be worried about dying in a nuclear holocaust, but if the Taliban did gain access to nuclear weapons and fired them off, the world will change. Just like after World War I, II, the Cold War, and September 11th, a new chapter in world history will begin.

Pirate Bay members found guilty- The floodgates of lawsuits are now open

The Pirate Bay in JailFour of the members of the team at the torrent website, The Pirate Bay, have been found guilty in helping infringe on copyright laws.

The entire trial was a theatrical joke, with the RIAA and MPAA pulling the strings behind the scenes.

What has to be considered, is that if The Pirate Bay helped users breach copyright by hosting .torrent files, then so are ISPs in Sweden, as they allow their users to download copyrighted files illegally using their internet service.

So the floodgates have opened. It is likely that ISPs will further restrict what customers are allowed to do on their internet service. This will definitely heat up the net neutrality topic once again.

The Road: A movie trailer created using Fallout 3

I made a trailer a while back for the novel 'The Road', based on the Cormac McCarthy novel.

The book is based in a post-apocalyptic type world, and fully-reminded me of the world of Fallout 3, a videogame released in 2008 by Bethesda.

I was surprised to find out from the Youtube comments, that many others feel the same way about the connection between Fallout and 'The Road'.

The 'Gothic' Easter Bunny

Gothic Evil Easter Bunny
Possibly the most disturbing rendition of 'The Easter Bunny'. The artist really gave the image a gothic, demonic feel to Peter Cottontail.

Happy Easter!

Edit: Since posting this, the author has decided to take down the image.

Why do people use Facebook 'Photos'?

I've been thinking of backing up old photos recently, and began looking at different photo hosting services on the web. During this, I started to ask what the purpose of Facebook's photo hosting service is.

Facebook does not allow high quality images to be posted, it scales the pictures down to a mere 604 x 453 resolution. For those out there who are backing up images for archival purposes are not going to find what they want with Facebook, anything below 1024 x 768 is poor, even that resolution is low in terms of images.

So does the average Facebook user not care about the quality of the images they post on Facebook, or do they not realize how much the resolution is shrunk down? There are much better services out there which host high quality photos, like Photobucket. Alas, most have a restricted amount of photos a user can upload, whereas Facebook does not.

The main reason most users take advantage of Facebook's photo hosting service is likely to share images with friends. Facebook has roped in younger and older generations alike. This unity of people all on a single website allow mediums to be shared with large groups of people with relative ease. A person can post a picture of their dinner from last night, and their childhood-friend's mother can see it from the other side of Canada.

This brings up the question as to why would anyone care about a photo of their friend's dinner, a tree, or a sign along the road? Is it a way for one to feel relevant, or is it an obsessive need to document every moment of one's life? In an age of concern over waste, is there no concern over the waste of space on Facebook's servers, which are packed full of blurry photos taken while driving on a highway?

Personally, I use it to share photos of certain events, but I don't go crazy and post hundreds of random photos without looking at them beforehand. I would love for Facebook to boost up its image resolution, as it would be the perfect archival tool if it continued to have no image cap. Alas, if the users do not use the service for archiving purposes, it is unlikely that will happen.

So why do you use Facebook's photo service? To share photos with friends? To backup old photos? To keep records of old events?

Hannah Montana The Movie: Eating money near you this weekend!

Hannah Montana Makes MoneyHilary Duff climbed to fame largely due to her Disney Show, Lizzie McGuire. Following the same path was Miley Cyrus, the daughter of country singer Billy-Ray Cyrus, who stared in Disney's 'Hannah Montana' TV show.

Now, just like Hilary Duff, Cyrus is staring in a big screen version of her TV show, which hits theatres this weekend. What scares me is how much money this movie will make. This is going to be one of the main movies this year that has children dragging their parents to the local movie theater.

There are lots of movies that kids want to see, take every Pixar movie for example. The great thing about those movies are that parents can find things to chuckle at as well. With the reviews on RottenTomatoes right now, it looks like that won't be the case with the HM movie.

Now I'm not trying to take a stab at the Montana franchise, I'm just wanted an excuse to make a Montana photo. Besides, Miley Cyrus needs some money to pay off her racist party habits.

Welcome!

Welcome to the new 'Seanthebond' website.

Due to some issues with Wordpress, I've switched over to both Seanthebond.ca and to Blogger as a host, which will allow for some much needed functionality that Wordpress did not offer.

One of the things I admire about Blogger is that, due to being owned by Google, it has increased functionality with various websites out there, and I find it has updates more often than Wordpress.com.

I don't plan on keeping the current layout, as I'm not too fond of it. It looks a little too "kiddy" right now. I hope to get it changed within the next month or two!
